"Thunderbolts and Lightning were commissioned by the University of Salford to create a pop-up street theatre show that told the story of Alan Turing for Manchester’s “Science in the City Festival” as part of the European City of Science, Manchester. Thunderbolts and Lighting created an amazing show “Our Friend Alan” that not only shared Turing’s life as a computing scientist, but told the story of Turing as a person. This moving piece of street theatre really pushed the boundaries of science communication: performative, emotive and challenging societal attitudes, whilst engaging people in the scientific process. Thunderbolts and Lightning are a wonderful company to have worked with."
